Design Ideas This shrub is almost always sheared into a formal shape but if allowed to grow natural it makes a huge, bushy barrier. Beware of the purple berries which attract birds and may stain paving. Makes a very rich-colored, high-density screening between neighbors or to disguise tall fences.
Flower Color White
Foliage Color Green
Companion Plants Loropetalum (Loropetalum); Bottlebrush (Callistemon); African Daisy (Osteospermum); Rose (Rosa); Creeping Fig (Ficus pumila)
CARE
Care Prefers slightly acidic, well-drained soils, rich in organic matter. Water deeply, regularly during first growing season to establish an extensive root system; reduce frequency once established. Apply fertilizer before new growth begins in spring. Prune only as needed to maintain desired shape; as a topiary, prune regularly to maintain form.
