CARE
Care Thrives in organically rich, acidic to neutral, well-drained soils. Apply mulch to conserve soil moisture and protect in harsh winters. Water deeply, regularly during first growing season to establish root system. Feed regularly during the growing season. Blooms on new wood; prune by 2/3 in late winter to promote vigorous new growth.
HISTORY
Lore Candy Apple is noteworthy for several distinctive features: the even more compact form (4 to 5 ft. tall and wide, as compared to Limelight's compact 6 to 8 ft. tall and wide), the strong, sturdy stems that do not flop, and the exquisite flower color backed by lush, dark green foliage. Flowers and foliage will both take on a rosy-red tinge in fall as temperatures drop, prior to dormancy. After the foliage has dropped, the dried blooms fade to a creamy-ecru color and will persist through winter.
