Since 1926, our success has been based on combining business savvy with a passion for growing plants. We are well-respected as the leading wholesale nursery providing Distinctively Better® plants and exceptional service to the finest nurseries and garden centers in North America. This reputation is the result of the dedication of our Craftsmen. As Monrovia grows, there is a continuing need for competent Coaches and Craftsmen with the desire to learn the skills of growing plants, to work with a diverse team and to develop the knowledge of our business practices.
As you become familiar with Monrovia you will note that we do not use the more commonly used titles of "employee" or "manager." Rather, we prefer to call ourselves Craftsmen and Coaches.
A Craftsman thinks, creates and performs with skill, dexterity and care. We do so, by not only utilizing our hands but, also, our hearts and minds.
A Coach is a leader who instructs and trains the individuals on his or her team toward the development of their team strategy.

Founded in 1926 and headquartered in Azusa, CA, this privately owned business (www.monrovia.com) has developed an enviable reputation for sales and marketing sophistications and commitment to quality. The Nursery currently has three locations with approximately 1,400 acres in production. The nurseries are located in Cairo, Georgia; Visalia, California and Dayton, Oregon. Each year, Monrovia has offered students the opportunity to work in production and learn from our experienced personnel. We are currently accepting applications for the summer internship program at all three locations. Cairo, Georgia is located about 50 miles north of Tallahassee, Florida. Visalia, California is located about 50 miles south of Fresno and Dayton, Oregon is about 40 miles southeast of Portland (near McMinnville). The program is offered to self-motivated individuals majoring in Ornamental Horticulture or related fields. Our internship program is recognized throughout the world and has proven to be invaluable for students entering the wholesale nursery trade. The internship can be described as a "work experience program" where knowledge is gained by working with our experienced personnel. The program is a hands-on-experience! Work assignments, while varied in nature, will be performed in areas of the greatest need at the time. The work will include all aspects of production such as propagation, shipping, research, canning, assembling of orders, staking and tying, pruning and spacing, time is also scheduled for classroom and field trip instruction. The summer program begins in June and ends in August (9 weeks). The scheduled work week is Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM. The program is flexible, to meet the needs of individual students. Trainees are paid to cover living expenses. Internship housing and transportation at all nursery locations is the exclusive responsibility of each trainee. A Social Security Card is a prerequisite for employment along with documents which establish your identity, such as a passport or driver's license with a photograph. All program participants are required to complete and pass a drug screening test. This program is open to all qualified applicants regardless of race, sex, religion, physical handicap, or national origin. Applications for the Summer Work Experience Program should be submitted via our website at www.monrovia.com. Please include a resume with your application, indicating any affiliation with the horticultural industry you may have had, i.e., FFA, horticultural clubs, previous work experience.
