Monrovia Growers Names New Chief Sales and Marketing Officer

AZUSA, Calif., July 27, 2006 — Robert Smiland has been named chief sales and marketing officer for Monrovia Growers, it was announced this week by Gilbert Resendez, president. Smiland has served as a member of Monrovia’s board of directors for two years, and had been retained as a consultant to Monrovia on several key business initiatives for the sales department.

AZUSA, Calif., July 27, 2006 — Robert Smiland has been named chief sales and marketing officer for Monrovia Growers, it was announced this week by Gilbert Resendez, president. Smiland has served as a member of Monrovia’s board of directors for two years, and had been retained as a consultant to Monrovia on several key business initiatives for the sales department.

Smiland has an extensive background in all facets of the home improvement industry serving the small and large independent retailer, mass merchants, working with architects and designers, and owning retail locations. He previously was chairman and CEO of Smiland Paint Company, a California-based manufacturer of architectural paint, distributed under the brands Morwear and Conco. He led a sizeable team of sales representatives before selling the manufacturing operation to Morwear Manufacturing, the Conco brand to Sherwin Williams and the retail division to California Paint Company.

He currently sits on several boards of directors, including chairman of Earl Scheib, Inc. Smiland serves as trustee to Piedmont College in Georgia and his own alma mater, the University of California, Berkeley. Bob is the father of four and lives in South Pasadena.
