Today it boasts upward of 40 different varieties valued for their cold hardiness. Skyrocket was introduced in 1949 and is counted among the many cultivars once classified under J. scopulorum and later assigned to the J. virginiana. This is an improved form of popular J. virginiana 'Skyrocket' developed by Pine Grove Nurseries.
