The Fuchsia plant is named after Leonhard Fuchs, a German doctor who lived in the early 1500's. Debrons Black Cherry Fuchsia was hybridized by Ron Monnier, who in recent years has focused on breeding upright shrub Fuchsias with increased hardiness, color range and bloom size.
