Design IdeasThis spreading Barberry is a great all-purpose plant that fills in beds and borders with showy bronze and purple foliage, flowers and berries. A little purple goes a long way though, so use sparingly. In groups of three or more, it creates a naturalistic planting in larger spaces. In smaller gardens, use it as a single purple accent plant and surround it with perennials. Line up several as a protective barrier hedge. Makes a fine background shrub for fence lines and to cover foundations. Avoid planting where you need access to meters, crawl spaces and the like.
Companion PlantsBoxwood (Buxus); False Cypress (Chamaecyparis); Potentilla (Potentilla); Spirea (Spiraea); Weigela (Weigela)
