Taiping Shan Evergreen Climbing Hydrangea

At his Windcliff garden in the Pacific Northwest, plant explorer Dan Hinkley talks with Monrovia’s Nicholas Staddon about an exceptional vine native to Taiwan and southwest China, Hydrangea integrifolia ‘Taiping Shan’. This evergreen climber clings by aerial roots, covering vertical surfaces with glossy foliage that is tinted bronze when it first emerges. ¬†An exceptional choice for a north facing wall or in shaded woodland settings where it will cloak the bare trunks of tall trees.
