History:
This new cultivar is the product of a Tecoma breeding program in Gilbert, Arizona, conducted by horticulturist George Hull, with an objective to create new cultivars with interesting flower colors and a compact habit. 'TEC6010916' originated from a crossing in 2008 of two unnamed, not patented Tecoma stans plants. The resulting seeds were subsequently planted and grown. 'TEC6010916' was selected in 2009 as a single plant within the progeny of the stated cross. Most similar to the cultivar 'Orange Jubilee, this new cultivar differs in that it exhibits reddish-orange flowers that are self-cleaning and develop very few seed pods, and has a more compact bushy habit.
