Monrovia PLANT SAVVY
August 2017
Why do we love August? In addition to all the fruits and flowers ready for the picking, it’s a month that starts with the big colorful blooms of mophead hydrangeas and ends with the warm-white flowery cones of panicle hydrangeas. Not to be outdone, there are lots of shrubs that hit their stride this month (we have 5 for each region) and gorgeous plants in soothing grey and white that’ll leave you feeling cooler. It’s a month for enjoying the garden and all the beauty around us.

As summer heats up, shrubs help keep the show going. We’ve created lists of standout selections and have 5 top picks for each region. Check out yours, but also others as plant hardiness can span a range of zones. (Links in story.)
