Espaliered form hugs a wall or fence, making it ideal for urban settings and in today's smaller gardens. Bartlett has large golden-yellow skinned fruit with sweet, creamy white flesh, perfect for eating fresh, canning or cooking. Harvest in late summer to early fall. Bosc is distinctively good with crisp yet tender flesh and sweet-spiced flavor. Harvest in fall. D'Anjou is a popular green pear with a good winter shelf life. Fruit is juicy with a sweet yet brisk flavor and hint of citrus. Pears are best picked early or when just mature and allowed to ripen indoors.
