    Design IdeasOutstanding evergreen shrub displays attractive foliage in all seasons; new growth is scarlet maturing to blue green in summer. Intense red fall color after a cold snap is its hallmark. The moderately fast-growing, dense, mounded form reaches 3 to 3.5 ft. in height and 3 ft. wide, making Gulf Stream ideal for use around foundations or in mixed borders. Small white flower stalks are a bonus. Very hardy and virtually pest and disease free. Full to partial sun. Cutting grown.

    Follow a regular watering schedule during the first growing season to establish a deep, extensive root system. Drought tolerant once established; best with occasional summer watering. Feed with a general purpose fertilizer before new growth begins in spring. Needs little to no pruning except to remove dead or broken branches.Pruning time: spring.

<strong>Partial shade</strong> typically means the plants will appreciate a more gentle exposure such as the weaker morning or early afternoon sun, with the emphasis on providing the minimum needed shade and sheltering from intense late afternoon sun. <strong>Partial sun</strong> typically means the plants <u>need</u> some direct sun, so the emphasis is on meeting the required minimum hours of sunlight, with filtered sunlight or shade the balance of the day.
Both are best with shelter from the harshest late afternoon sun. This shade could be provided by a structure, a wall, larger plants or  tree(s).
