We have been pioneers and craftsmen in the art of growing plants for nearly 100 years. Since our founding in Southern California by Harry E. Rosedale, Sr. in 1926, we have been absolutely dedicated and obsessed with quality. We now have separate nurseries in various regions to deliver plants throughout the country.
Quality starts by selecting the very best varieties of plants to grow, working with breeders from around the world to test and trial plants before we deem them suitable for your garden. We now grow more than 4,000 varieties for every landscape need and every region. From our custom soil mixes developed to ensure healthy roots to the care we take in pruning and shaping our plants as they grow, Monrovia is also focused on giving every plant what it needs to thrive.
Why Choose Monrovia Plants?
Simply stated, you won't find people more passionate about growing plants than Monrovia craftsmen. We strive to grow in three ways:
We know that growing a beautiful garden isn’t just about growing plants—it’s about growing our human connection to nature. We use our hearts, minds, and hands to grow the finest selection of plants for every need, indoors and out. Our passion for plants and years of expertise results in plants that everyone can grow beautifully, sharing in the joy and satisfaction that comes from nurturing living beauty at home.
We believe there is a science to growing beautifully. That’s why we work with breeders and plant explorers throughout the world and select varieties with the best genetics to grow stronger, healthier plants. Our incomparable propagation and growing techniques, exclusive soil mixes, and encouraging advice based on experience can help ensure your success with plants.
We follow nature to develop our practices and techniques, to evaluate the evolution of plants, to watch for beautiful adaptations, and to learn the best way to provide whatever a plant may need. We use beneficial insects, organic mulches, and natural microorganisms, and strive to reduce the use of insecticides and fertilizers. We work with nature to bring a plant’s beauty to life.
We are proud to call ourselves Craftsmen because it's the term used to describe people who use their hearts, minds, and hands to produce beauty. The way we grow plants is truly a craft—a blend of art and science developed over decades of observation and innovation. Our desire is to grow plants so healthy and beautiful that they will improve the land wherever they are planted. We thank you for caring enough to add our plants to your garden or landscape.
