Bright Star Yucca
Yucca gloriosa var. recurvifolia 'Walbristar' (BRIGHT STAR) P.P. #17,653
Bright Star is an adaptable landscape succulent evergreen perennial. Plants produce bold globular rosettes of broad, strappy, mid-green leaves with wide lemon yellow edges. These have sharp tips and are so long they slightly curve downward. Bright Star slowly develops a broad, short, trunk-like base that gives the plant a squat tree-like appearance. Each rosette produces an upright, branched flower stalk that becomes covered with bell-shaped pale pink flowers opening from deeper pink buds followed by bulbous brown seed capsules. Its flowers are fragrant at night and attract moths. In the landscape, this yucca makes a dramatic addition to large sunny borders and foundations with well-drained, average to poor-nutrient soils.
