Blue Surprise Port Orford Cedar - The Guardian® Series
Chamaecyparis lawsoniana 'Blue Surprise'
Silvery blue, needle-like foliage forms a dense, narrow spire. A beautiful accent for low shrub borders or specimen in formal gardens. This new variety is grown on a root stock that is resistant to Phytophthora lateralis - a disease that has caused the demise of many lawsonianas over the last two decades. The Guardian® Series rootstock was developed by Oregon State University. We are utilizing this rootstock on several varieties: 'Silver Queen', 'Golden King', 'Silberstar', and 'Yvonne'.
