Juniperus sabina 'Arcadia'
Pronunciation: ju-NIP-er-us sa-BI-na
|Description||Very durable landscape plant. Lacy foliage on its semi-spreading form makes a terrific mounded groundcover used on a large scale. Also versatile for use in rock gardens and borders. Evergreen.|
|Watering||Water when top 2 inches of soil is dry.|
|Blooms||Conifer; prized for foliage.|
|Mature Size||Moderate grower to 1 ft. tall, spreading 6 to 8 ft. wide.|
|Landscape Use||Border, Ground Cover|
|Design Ideas||A great groundcover or rock-garden plant for difficult conditions. Because it is a shrub, you can plant it through weed blocking fabric . Thrives in rocky soils, mountainous conditions and where the soil is thin. Use on slopes for coverage or erosion control. Allow it to drape off retaining walls or cover unsightly transition zones at the edges of paving. With its prostrate habit and slow growth, it is also a candidate for potted bonsai. Excellent deer resistance.|
|Care||Follow a regular watering schedule during the first growing season to establish a deep, extensive root system. As a groundcover, space plants 5 ft. apart, (closer for faster coverage). Control weeds with mulch until the plants cover the area.|
