History
This hybrid Spiraea is the product of of a planned breeding program by Timothy Wood in Grand Haven, Michigan, with an objective to develop new compact, mounding cultivars with attractive foliage and flowers. The new plant originated from an open-pollination in 2003 of Spiraea fritschiana 'Wilma' PP15,397, as the female (seed) parent with an unknown selection of Spiraea japonica, as the male (pollen) parent. The new plant was discovered and selected by Mr. Wood in 2005 as a single flowering plant within the progeny of the stated open-pollination in a controlled environment in Grand Haven, Michigan. Spiraea x 'Tracy' was issued plant patent no. 21,588 on December 28, 2010.
