History
Breeders Howard Bentley and Steve Eggleton of Australia, introduced the Salvia microphylla hybrids Heatwave ™ Collection in direct response to their dry very hot climate. The aim of the breeders was to purposely cross Salvia macrophylla forms with S. greggii varieties to develop a new range exhibiting characteristics of both parents. After trialing hundreds of potential types, the selection criteria of habit flowering and heat tolerance resulted in the varieties which now comprise this stunning collection.
