'Lollypop' was a product of a breeding program in 1992 in Noorden, The Netherlands with female parent A. japonica 'Europa' and male parent A. x arendsii 'Grete Pungel', selected for it's upright, compact habit, dark green leaves, dark-purple stems and petioles, and free-flowering pink blooms.
