    Provide well-drained, acidic soil, rich in organic matter. Apply a thick layer of mulch to keep roots cool, avoiding the crown. Protect from harsh afternoon sun. Both are best with shelter from the harshest late afternoon sun. This shade could be provided by a structure, a wall, larger plants or  tree(s).
