HistoryThe Pugster® series of butterfly bushes are a breeding breakthrough, being the first buddleja with the heavy, wide foliage and large, dense flower clusters of the non-dwarf form on the small frame of a dwarf buddleja. Densely branched, thick stems with short internodes withstand colder winter temperatures and better cold tolerance than typical dwarf forms, in as low as zone 5. Pugster Blue® is a Proven Winner's introduction, resulting from breeding of Buddleia davidii 'UC 596' (seed parent) and Buddleia davidii 'Adonis Blue'(pollen parent). The series name, Pugster®, refers to its shared traits with the short, stocky, beloved breed of pug dogs.
