This exceptionally hardy woodland perennial provides multiple seasons of color, blooming in late spring and again in fall, showing off its variegated white and green foliage in-between. The purple-red flowers are held high above the foliage on strong stems, making a fantastic cut flower, fresh or dried. Herbaceous perennial.
Provide moist soil, rich in organic matter. Best bloom with morning sun and dappled shade the rest of the day. Deadhead to the base of the flower stem. Can be divided in early spring or early fall, if desired.
History
This variety was discovered in 2006 as a naturally occurring branch mutation of Astrantia 'Star of Beauty'.
