OVERVIEW
Description Handsome, strap-like, green and white-striped leaves will brighten up garden beds and borders. Ideal for massing as a groundcover. Delicate sprays of white flowers with purple sepals appear above the foliage in mid-spring; dark blue berries follow in summer. Excellent for dry shade. Low water needs; spreads vigorously by runners when irrigated. Evergreen in mild winter climates.

Care Thrives in organically rich, well-drained soils; tolerates clay. Best with some shade in hot summer regions. Water deeply, regularly during first growing season to establish an extensive root system; reduce frequency once established. Low water needs, but needs supplemental water during hot, dry summers. Remove spent flower stalks and old foliage as new leaves emerge. Divide if needed in early spring. Can spread vigorously if well irrigated.
