Curly Wurly Corkscrew Rush
Juncus effusus 'Curly Wurly'
Pronunciation: JUN-kus eff-Yoo-sus
|Description||Aptly named, this unique rush has glossy green, pencil-thin stems that spiral outward from the clump in all directions. A great deer resistant accent plant that collectors dare not do without. This low maintenance plant prefers to be sited in a bog or other very moist environment in partial shade. Evergreen in mild winter areas.|
|Watering||Keep soil moist, but not soggy.|
|Mature Size||Quickly reaches 8 to 14 in. tall, 8 to 10 in. wide.|
|Special Features||Fast Growing, Compact Form|
|Companion Plants||Hosta (Hosta); Bee Balm (Monarda); Creeping Jenny (Lysimachia); Joe-Pye Weed (Eupatorium); Turtlehead (Chelone)|
|Care||Provide average soil with consistent moisture; thrives in a moist, boggy environment, but tolerates drier conditions when established. For a tidy appearance, remove old, faded foliage before new foliage emerges. Clumps are often slow to establish, but once established will spread by creeping rhizomes. Adapts well to containers.|
