Description A tough, durable groundcover, perfect for challenging dry shade. Heart-shaped leaves emerge tinged with red, maturing to a glossy green. The clumping foliage slowly spreads by rhizomes. In spring, rosy-red and white flowers rise above the foliage on delicate stems. Foliage turns red in fall. Drought tolerant once established. An herbaceous perennial.

Care Thrives in humus-rich, neutral to acidic, well-drained soils. Best in shade or dappled morning sun with afternoon shade. Water regularly during the first growing season to establish an extensive root system. Once established, tolerates drier conditions in well-shaded areas. Space 2 ft. apart for groundcover. Cut foliage to the ground in late winter or early spring for best foliage and flower display.
