Care Instructions Provide enriched, moist, well-drained, acidic soil. Apply a thick layer of mulch to keep root zone cool in summer. Protect from harsh sun in hot regions. Water deeply, regularly during first growing season to establish root system; once established, prefers moist soil, but tolerates mild drought. Feed in early spring. Prune in winter to shape.
History Developed by the Rutgers University breeding program, this is a stable mutation (or sport) of the popular Stellar Pink® variety of dogwood tree that is the result of crossing two varieties (Cornus kousa and Cornus florida). Besides leaf color (with brighter color), all other attributes are identical to the Stellar Pink variety. This cultivar has exhibited superior winter hardiness and has demonstrated resistance to powdery mildew and anthracnose.
