Thrives in well-drained, neutral to lightly acidic, humus-rich soils with ample moisture. Protect from harsh afternoon sun in hot summer regions. Apply mulch to maintain a cool root zone. Water deeply, regularly during the first growing season to establish an extensive root system. Apply fertilizer in early spring.
Found as a sport of Tsuga canadensis, selected in July 2000 by Monrovia craftsman Ron Kinney in Dayton, Oregon. This new cultivar was first propagated in December 2007.
