History
New Zealand hebes have long been bred in Denmark as greenhouse pot plants. It was not until recently that breeder Jack Hobbs, curator of the Aukland Regional Botanical Gardens, produced the wildly successful Wiri hebe varieties. They first came on the market in 1995 with Wiri Blush one of the latest introductions.
