History | Introduced in the Gardeners Confidence Collection®, Swan Maiden™ ('4BELLACJ01') is noteworthy for its heavy flower production, it dense, compact, and uniform growth, and its increased tolerance to root diseases. It was selected as a seedling resulting from an open pollination of female/seed parent 'Frostproof', and an unknown male/pollen parent that's original objective was to produce early-blooming, double-flowered, cold hardy gardenias with compact habits. Although Snow Maiden's blooms are single (not double, as was the objective of the breeding program), it exhibited a very notable heavy flower production with compact, dark green growth, dense branching and uniform growth, and an increased tolerance of root diseases. Swan Maiden™ is hardy to zone 6b. |
