History
Salvia x jamensis are the name assigned to hybrids between the woody Autumn Sage (Salvia greggii) and Mountain Sage (Salvia microhylla). 'Ignition Purple' comes from a breeding program that focuses on developing S. x jamensis hybrids with exceptional beauty, length of bloom time, environmental tolerance and strength. Cold hardiness ranges widely in this group of hybrids, depending on the parentage. 'Ignition Purple' was chosen for it's prolific bloom, extreme heat and humidity tolerance, and is quite cold hardy within its type. This selection was introduced by Plant Haven, and is offered exclusively by Monrovia.
